On This Day in History – 12th August - North Korea Vs America (Round One)
It was on this day, back in 1944 when the first of the Kennedy brothers was killed. Joseph, older brother to the future president died when an explosion went off in his aircraft over England during WWII.
On this day in 1964 South Africa was banned from the Olympics for their refusal to condemn apartheid. They were not allowed back until 1992.
Twenty-eight years after their suspension! So, what else happened on this day in history? Well, on this day in 1950 seventy-five American prisoners of war were slaughtered by the North Korean Army, in an incident known as the Bloody Gulch Massacre.
On a more upbeat note, it was on this day in 1990 when Sue, the world’s most complete t-rex skeleton was discovered in South Dakota.
