PUTIN'S WELL-TRAINED KILLERS ARE ADVANCING INTO KYEV AND THROUGHOUT UKRAINE TO DESTROY A PEACEFUL....

At this very moment, Putin’s well-trained killers are advancing into Kyev and throughout Ukraine to destroy a peaceful democratic nation of 44 million who want only to be free.

Vastly outgunned, President Zelensky has chosen to stay and fight with his brave civilian volunteers. Many will die tonight.

The Russians may kill these martyrs and overwhelm armed resistance , but they will not be able to kill the memory of their courage, their principles, and their love of independence for their homeland. He may swallow the porcupine, but their sacrifices will assure Putin’s ultimate defeat. Sam Goldberg

As Russian troops entered Kyiv on Friday, Ukraine’s military began arming civilians to help defend the capital.

Scores of residents stood in line to pick up assault rifles at a distribution center in central Kyiv after President Volodymyr  Zelensky called for volunteers to take up arms.

For months, the Territorial Defense Force, a special unit formed under the armed forces, has been recruiting residents in urban centers to serve in the event of a war. On Friday, the fear quickly materialized into reality when Russian troops reached Kyiv.

“We have a real danger coming now,” said Ruslan Miroshnichenko, the head of international affairs for the Territorial Defense Force.

“This is about the very physical existence of Ukraine as an independent state,” he added. “If we see a patriot who wants to defend the country, we are giving him a possibility.”

An estimated 18,000 assault rifles, variants of the Kalashnikov, have been distributed in Kyiv since Thursday.

For many in line, the decision to pick up arms and fight a street battle against one of the world’s largest armies was driven by patriotism.

“I don’t really have any choice,” said Hlib Bondarenko, a 21-year-old computer programmer. “This is my home. I have nowhere to go, and I’m not going to give it up.”

Olena Sokolan, a business manager, stood proudly in a line made up mostly of men.

“I am a woman, but I am strong,” Ms. Sokolan said. “I don’t have any fear. I’m ready.”

While some residents have already undergone formal training by the Territorial Defense Force, others in line said they had never even held a rifle.

Mr. Miroshnichenko turned aside any concerns over arming a civilian population in the capital’s streets, saying that each weapon’s serial number was attached to a passport.

Ultimately, this strategy may be an important lifeline for the government, which for months has said it expects its military to be overwhelmed in a Russian invasion.

“Every hour counts now,” Mr. Miroshnichenko said.

‘This night will be tough,’ Zelensky says, predicting an escalating Russian offensive.
Russian forces will make an all-out attack on Ukraine tonight, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address to his country, declaring that “the fate of Ukraine is now being decided.”

“This night, the enemy will use all the forces available to break our resistance — treacherously, viciously, inhumanly,” Mr. Zelensky said in a speech posted online after midnight on Saturday, according a translation provided by his office. “This night, they will make an assault upon us. We all have to understand what we are going to face. This night, we have to withstand.”

Looking haggard, he listed several Ukrainian cities that he said were being targeted, including Kyiv, the capital, and Kharkiv, the second-largest city, which is near the Russian border in the east. “Kyiv requires special attention,” he said. “We cannot lose the capital.”

Mr. Zelensky accused Russian forces of striking civilian targets, including kindergartens, housing and an orphanage. “The invaders have to come up with more and more absurd accusations,” he said, referring to Kremlin claims that Ukraine is under the control of Nazis. He added that “nobody will believe them,” including the people of Russia.

“What is this war against Ukrainian children in a kindergarten?” he asked. “Who are they? Are they neo-Nazis from kindergarten as well?”

Appealing to the Ukrainian people, he said: “Defend our state. The night will be tough, very tough. But the morning will come.”

Russian troops on Friday had entered a northern district of Kyiv, a city that was home to 2.8 million people before the invasion that began on Thursday prompted many of them to flee. U.S. officials say the Russians have met stiffer resistance than expected but warned that Moscow had sent into Ukraine only 30 percent of the 150,000 to 190,000 troops it had massed at the border ahead of the assault and that it could escalate its offensives at any time.

The Biden administration has warned that Kyiv could fall quickly.

The Ukrainian authorities on Friday urged the residents of Kyiv to “prepare Molotov cocktails” to help defend themselves.

Even so, Mr. Zelensky said, “Our main goal is to end this slaughter.”

The stràngest marriage in the world was in the 80s, the Swiss Corina Hoffman, on a visit to Kenya 🇰🇪

The stràngest marriage in the world was in the 80s, the Swiss Corina Hoffman, on a visit to Kenya  🇰🇪  In 1986, Hofmann and her boyfriend Marco made a trip to Kenya. There, she met a Samburu warrior named Lketinga Leparmorijo and instantly found him irresistible.  She left Marco, went back to Switzerland to sell her possessions, and, in 1987, returned to Kenya, determined to find Lketinga, which she eventually did. The couple moved in together, married, and had a daughter.  Hofmann moved into her mother-in-law's manyatta (compound) and learned to live as a Samburu woman, fetching wood and water. She opened a small shop in the village, to sell basic goods. Hofmann suffered several hardships, including diseases (mainly malaria) and marital problems. Increasingly paranoid jealousy from her husband, possibly a side effect of his addiction to the d.rug khat (miraa), severely damaged her relationship, and in 1990 she decided to return to Switzerland for good, t...

WHO IS THE WORST PERSON TO EVER LIVE ON THIS PLANET?

I vote for Danny Immens. I’ll describe his story, and let you decide. The boy on the left was one of his victims. Thursday, June 24, 1999. For you and me, this was a Thursday like most others. But for 12-year-old Steve Vissers, it would be his very last. And it would end in agony. (If that is the word.) Together with his younger brother, he was riding his bicycle in the park when the man hit him. His mother had forbidden them to ride beyond the bridge, but the boys had decided to go just a little further — what could go wrong, right ? And then the man had hit his bike with his scooter. Nobody was hurt, but the man insisted to drive Steve to a doctor, just in case. Steve refused — twenty years later, his brother Sven would say that it was immediately obvious that something was wrong with the man — and suddenly there was a knife, the man forced Steve on his scooter, and drove away. Steve turned his head, and waved to his brother. And then they were gone. It was the very last time that Sv...

THE LITTLE JEWISH GIRL WHO SURVIVE THE HOLOCAUST IN 1933

The Jewish girl who Survival the holocaust  Anny-Yolande Horowitz was a Jewish girl born on June 2, 1933 in Strasbourg, France. She and her family were interned in the Lalande camp near Tours and then transferred to Drancy before being deported on September 11, 1942 on Convoy 31 to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Unfortunately, Anny, her mother Frieda and her sister Paulette did not survive the Holocaust.   holocaust survival This photo is from "French Children of the Holocaust: A Memorial" by Serge Klarsfeld. It's a huge doorstop of a book containing whatever photos and information that remain of the 11,000 French-Jewish children who were murdered by Nazis like Klaus Barbie (who Klarsfeld helped put on trial). The number of beautiful, innocent faces in this book is overwhelming. The book cost me $85 but I didn't care - I needed to remember those faces." All that is known of Anny is what is on her identification card, that she was Jewish, had blonde hair, blue eyes, ...

THE TERRIBLE STORY OF THE LAST COMMANDER OF ONE GERMAN PANTHER TANK.

On this day in 1945, Americans capture the city of Cologne, Germany. The town had already been shattered by years of aerial raids. Now, as World War II was coming to an end, Germans began to flee before the oncoming American tanks. Yet the commander of one German Panther tank refused to go. Instead, he made a last stand in front of Cologne Cathedral, one of the few buildings to remain mostly intact. The Panther tanks were heavier and tougher than the American Sherman tanks. Indeed, that Panther soon knocked out a pair of M4 Sherman tanks, killing or wounding several of our soldiers. But Americans had another, newer tank: the Pershing. One crew was nearby and swung into action. Its commanding officer hoped to attack the Panther from a side street before the Germans knew what was coming. The move was nearly fatal. Inside the German tank, the crew sensed that something wasn’t right. The tank’s turret was turned so that its muzzle was aimed at the side street. Just then, the Pershing came ...

GINA THE TALENTED CYCLIST RESCUE HUNDRED ITALIANS DURING WWII

Gina Rescue mission in world war 2  While he was widely admired for his athletic achievements, few knew about cyclist and two-time Tour de France winner Gino Bartali's rescue efforts during World War II.  Germany occupied Italy, its former Axis partner, in 1943. Rest in Peace to RNZAF Flight Sergeant Reg Wellington who passed away on 3rd November 2022   Reg joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force when he turned 18 in 1943. He learned to fly on Tiger Moths and Harvards before upgrading to the P-40 and then doing a conversion course on the Corsair at Ardmore. In 1944 Reg was sent to 22 squadron and deployed to the Pacific on the 19th December. The Evil Twin Experiment Carried Out In History

Evil experiment carried out in history In the early to mid 1940s, during World War II and the Holocaust, the Nazi’s experimented on thousands of men, women and children. Their major target populations included Romani, Sinti, ethnic Poles, Soviet POWs, disabled Germans, and Jews from across Europe. At Auschwitz and other camps, under the direction of Eduard Wirths, selected inmates were subjected to various hazardous experiments that were designed to help German military personnel in combat situations, develop new weapons, aid in the recovery of military personnel who had been injured, and to advance the Nazi racial ideology. Experiments on twins Experiments on twin children in concentration camps were created to show the similarities and differences in the genetics of twins, as well as to see if the human body can be unnaturally manipulated.  The central leader of the experiments was Josef Mengele, who from 1943 to 1944 performed experiments on nearly 1,500 sets of imprisoned twins...
